Not the same line, but would take 2 hours to get to reading then about 3 on the victoria line (Stopping everywhere) or 2.5 on the First Great Western service.
New street to Exeter is 2.5 hours and air conditioned. Even if these were cancelled and reading not, theres no garentee the reading -> exeter train would be running by the time I got these.

either way, the rail strike has been cancelled, and all is well.
