Okay then, maybe we won't be broadcasting after all! :P

Just come talk to us at the event, lets not make a big tantrum about it on the forums. Quite obviously staying legal comes above anything else, and if that is in question, no streaming.

Yeah a laptop connected to the projector is fine , as long as its running on its own power..
I'm not sure what the legal standpoint is regarding the projector though.

I can bring a 10,000 and 8,000VA ups to run the projector if you want ;)

Can I vote NO on football? Its bad enough having to put up with it for the next month at work, let alone when I'm trying to enjoy myself :P
On the legal front lets say you can watch it on a laptop hooked to the projector, you can legally watch it with your TV licence, but some of us have no licence (for we have no TV) so are we then breaking the law?

No, in the same way that you can go to a pub and watch TV and be covered by their licence. I think the whole "watching TV away from home on battery powered devices" thing is supposed to be a personal use only kinda thing, e.g watching on your phone/tablet on the bus. I don't think it allows broadcasting to other people, which is essentially what we'd be doing. If you have Sky Go or a similar service then I don't see why there's any reason you can't watch on your own PC/laptop, but things are a little different when you connect it to a projector for 50 others to see. Essentially you're broadcasting.

I don't have a problem with the game being shown, if we can do it a legit way, but as James says it all comes down to legality. It is a sporting event of national significance after all, and if you're that desperate not to miss it then either go home or to a pub for the game or listen on the radio with some headphones at the LAN. I can take my DAB set if you want to use it.

I'm pretty much with this. Could I suggest going down the pub as a far more fun experience. The internet connection is unlikely to give you a decent stream, you'll go through an insane amount of bandwidth on a 3g card.

If we do play it, I think I'm going to insist on no sound, then at least the football nay-sayers can ignore it and get on with games

If you do play it with no sound thats cool .. commentators are idiots anyway..
If theres a bunch of ppl going to the pub that would be cool too.

Either way im not that fussed.
The reason I asked in the first place was so that I could play games at the same time as watching the game :)

Where are the local pubs, any good ones bad ones?

I found 2x pubs that will be showing the game - the pub opposite the chippie is The Salterton Arms.
