Games!

Postby Aphos » Sat Jul 06, 2013 6:24 am

it's what we'll all be here for, so let's see what games we need to get practice in!

As tradition, i'm sure CS:S servers will be about. how about CS:GO, though? i've heard mixed reviews, but nothing that makes me think it'd be unplayable/unsuitable

i also think we need to get some big team games organised, it's one thing that always felt a little, underwhelming back in the day (i'm talking saltlan 4-7 here!)
maybe if we set up a schedule so people can prepare in time if they want in, might help boost numbers for the games!

Maybe a BF2 or a BF3 server? How about 11 vs 11 on FIFA 13? and for the speed freaks, maybe some games of tribes and large scale UT games?

oh, and we need a Beat-em-up Championship. all names in a hat, pair competitors, and everyone slugs it out in elimination, until we have one man left to win....uhh, RSI treatments and some eye drops, or something! i'll let someone else think of a good prize!

Team games always come up but we never manage anything besides TF2/CSS. Savage is another one that gets kicked around as an idea but rarely played.

I'm thinking of getting CSGO during the summer sale, but some enthusiasm for seeing it at lans would give me a push as I don't like buying games I'm not going to play.

BF2/1942 is good because it has different map sizes for however many we manage to get playing, so it's not a wash if we can't fill a 64 player server. There's also a free version of 1942 out now (under demos in origin)

Payday2 is out next month, but that's 4p coop.

Hi,

I would be up for any and every RTS going.

I will play some SC2 while I am there if anyone wants to hit the 2v2/3v3/4v4 ladders with me that could be fun. If anyone does not have SC2 and would like to try it I have a bunch of spare accounts so just pre-install the game before LAN and we are set to go.

If anyone wants to let me know of which RTS games you guys play and where to buy them that would be great.

Much Love,
Matt

Weren't you the guy going woody woodpecker on your keyboard with SC2 last lan? Not that there's anything wrong with that, I can appreciate dedication, from a distance, with ear protection.

I lost my C&C3 game disc, however Steam has C&C3 on special offer so I bought it.

Happy to play this at a LAN as Planetary Annihilation won't be released in time. Anyone else up for C&C3? (Not Kane's Wank).

SC2 is a given again :D I remember there being quite a few people on it last time I was there, let's get some 4v4 monobattles on the go

Payday 2 seems like a good shout as well, I can see that being quite lively, might be a bit worrying for the old biddies walking around outside; "COOK THE METH GOD DAMMIT THE COPS ARE COMING"

CS:GO seems like the better shout as well, I believe there's more people playing that these days than Source, would it not be a good shout to start moving tourneys to GO? What about mods like The Hidden as well? Screams all round

CSGO got an update today, I wouldn't be surprised to see it on sale shortly, and lots of people are expecting it to go F2P eventually although that's probably not a near-term thing.

Hello,
I've added a 'question' to the SaltLAN31 facebook event.
Please add to that any and all games you want to play, as well as adding your vote to any games already on the list that you want to play.
Cheers!

Urgh, facebook. Why do something on a separate site instead of just doing in, you know, on the westlan forums?

Anyhow, could I request a CS:GO dedicated server? Just to have it ticking over in the background in case a game of it does happen, there's a 'place' for players to gather instead of "hold on a minute I'll set up a game".

As for other games, I suppose the usual (BF2, savage), but I know full well the chances of getting anything different is slim. Giants Citizen Kabuto is one that I think would work well though.

Awesome

Surely we could get some random HL2/UT2k4 mod going for giggles.

Anyone played science and industry mod for half life? Basically involves two teams in a ten style match but way team must research new guns etc. you can steal enemy scientists to improve your research speed to give he game a comical twist
