Diablo 3

Postby Houlden » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:32 am

So I happened to notice that Diablo 3 comes out during the LAN.

Who's up for a trip up to Exeter to pick it up at midnight? ;)

oooh. I might be tempted to do this, although I would much prefer a digital copy. I'll see if there is an option to purchase it directly from Battle.net and download it first, but otherwise I'm up this :P

There IS an option to buy, even now, heck, you can preload it right now if you want digital :)

I'm definately picking up a retail copy, mainly because I want the limited edition (I try every time with Blizzard games, I was £1.50 off getting the Starcraft 2 limited box when it came out, ho hum).

Such a shame there's no LAN option in game though, would have been awesome to play some at the LAN :(

We'll just ban website access for everyone else to get the bandwidth ;)

1) Install QoS
2) Input rules to give highest priority to D3 traffic
3) WIN!

But on a serious note, we dont know how much bandwidth the game uses, if it uses tiny bits here and there like EVE does then there is no reason why we could not give it a try?

** Update **
Google ftw

D3 over a 20 min period uses around 5mb of bandwidth - we are so playing this at LAN :p

:D

I'm already excited hahah!

Despite what other people might be doing, I'll be shooting off on the Saturday night to get my copy, if only to flaunt it off haha ;) If anyone needs a lift, I should have the car over the weekend and will happily stay sober to zoom it up to Exeter

Yeah, they're letting me have a copy early though. Only because they feel sorry for me for being such a fucktard

Yeah man, read that, love that expression from the Blizzard guy haha

This is Actiblizzard though, they're pushing their online tags and identity thing so hard at the moment though, I'd love to see LAN put in but I don't see it happening, I mean we're about 2 weeks from launch and heard nothing about LAN :(

Ah yeah, I saw that link that Merson posted, forgot to reply at the time ;) LAN play would be very much appreciated, although I have to say I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. The online community of Strarcraft really does make the game. LAN play would obviously loose a lot of what you benefit from while being online, but it may be mildly useful for LAN parties, etc.

I don't resent games that require I have an active internet connection - I'm on the internet 24/7. If I'm at my computer without an internet connection, it will be because I'm _fixing_ my internet connection!

Even so, I remember a release date check with SC2 where you couldn't install it before their servers let you, and even if you install it, battle.net has the last word to allow you to play.
