Wanting a random deathmatch game. See poll.

It comes free with the valve pack. It's like 180mb install.

If an admin could adjust my restrictions on the forums as i still can't vote in polls.
If online bullying has taught us anything. It's that people would sooner hang themselves than lose a bit of weight.

I've just spent a few minutes looking at the permissions, and I can't see any reason why you can't vote in polls. I'll have another look this evening when I get a chance.

I guess it's probably installing HL1 along with it, as it's an expansion.

Are we doing CTF with this? I think that was one of the 'big' things Gearbox added to HL with it, that, and tentacle/grapple rape.

CTF in Opposing force is pretty good fun, but I like the sheer mania of Deathmatch too (as the game is SOO unbalanced, many weapons, especially the sniper rifle). I'm hoping to throw in a few different configurations.

Also really looking forward to some Half Life 2 Deathmatch on non-killbox non-dm_overwatch and non-dm_lockdown maps. Got a few different configs there.

I'll post a list of recommended games to install closer to the LAN :)

XCON IS CREDIT TO TEAM

Some variety in TF2 as well. I know some maps are just good, and some maps are just bad, but there's a lot that are worth playing that never get an outing.

dustbowl needs to be played in TF2, don't think I've ever seen it at the lan.

And more of that HL2 map with the nuke countdown!

I guess what I'd like is a few symmetrical maps in there, as opposed to attack/defend or payload. Maps like 5gorge, well, fastlane, turbine, doublecross, coldfront. Some will work better than others depending on the playercount. Maybe some KOTH to do any tiebreaks.

As a bonus, I think it would get rid of messy "play 3 rounds this way then swap around and play 3 rounds that way"

Cheers Freelance. As an experienced lanner you know that setting up the servers take a longgg time and a lot of tinkering to do just right. We're normally pretty good at coming together as Staff and building an event at the last minute, but things like a decent map rotation list can be overlooked.

Gonna make a bit of an effort this time to sort these little niggles out.

The CS:S Tourney last time worked much better than expected, but yep, we'll go back to map rotations instead of all switching in the middle of the game, that was messy!
