Tournaments

Postby Neomancer » Fri Jan 06, 2012 1:10 pm

Righty ho,

not sure if opus is coming to the next LAN - if not i have some time off before the LAN so I'm going to work out some tournaments. I think the red vs blue thing worked out quite well last LAN.

What do you guys want to see in the list of games?

CS:S is obviously a given. anything else?

PLEASE VOTE IN THE POLL

Last lan was 4 teams, picked at random (rather than red vs blue).

Anyways, TF2 was quite a lot of fun at the last lan - it's easy to hop in and anyone can play :)

Day of Defeat Source please. Its better than CoD and BF and more ppl can run it.

I'd agree with this, not particularly for or against DODS (I've barely played it), but to mix things up a bit. It's also fairly arcadey and quick to pick up.

Something else that comes to mind is Nuclear Dawn, which is currently dirt cheap on http://www.indieroyale.com/ along with 3 other games. It's a RTS/FPS hybrid, so along the lines of Savage/Empires mod, on steam/source.

The other big one would be Renegade-X, with the final version out on Jan 28th. This has the big advantage of being free.

Hmm, I'll have to disagree there, DODS is good no doubt, but CoD, even CoD4 which is pretty old blows it out of the water.

DoD:S is awesome fun, with a lot of people it's probably more fun than COD. Although COD4 is a good laugh at the LAN :)

Well i disagree on the fact i don't get arse-raped as badly in DoDS compared to CoD4

I think DOD:S is a great idea - almost everybody will have it (or can buy it, ridiculously cheap) and everybody can run it. Also, as less people play the game from day to day, we're unlikely to get a player that dominates everybody on the server.

edit: Made a Poll

all valid points, DODS in that case makes more sense!

Also, I should be attending (work dependent) and can/will help out with tournaments.

Needs more RTS. I think Savage should be made a Tournament as no bugger plays it.

We got RA2 working last lan, so a 2v2 tourney should be made. If you can't run this, gtfo. :D

Im quite sure that RenX: Black Dawn will be single player only, it will be perhaps another year yet until we see any hint of a full multiplayer enabled release.
