Battlefield Bad Company 2 LAN Play [Development Halted]

Postby AlienX » Thu Oct 07, 2010 3:17 pm

Hi People.
Please do not get your hopes up that much, but anyways...

I'm currently in the process of creating a BFBC2 unranked and all weapons unlocked dedicated server.

Currently:
  • I have the battlefield bad company 2 dedicated server (FROSTBITE Release).
  • I have a cracked copy of the BFBC2 client, which allows for non-whitelisted connections.
  • I have a EA Games server emulator for logging in, soldiers, stats, etc etc thats working at the moment

So hopefully, with abit of luck we can play BFBC2 at the LAN :D

I will update this post with progress as it happens.

I've only recently started on the multi-player section of the game and enjoying it. I absolutely loved the campaign though.

Ah, but will they work together?

Should do, as long as their the same R version (R22 or R24, i cant quite remember)

I saw about 3 people playing BF2 at Saltlan 9, since then nothing.

I have a feeling i might have been one of them, its not too laggy over the internet connection when the LAN is quite small.

As for a status update:
The current emulators do not succeed in making a proper connection with BFBC2, i am trying to obtain the source code (which apparantly has been released, but i cannot find it on sourceforge) to fix the issue.

I have patched the BFBC2 EXE myself to point to a static LAN address for its server queries, EA thought they were being clever when they shoved a hard-coded static IP in, but that just makes it easier to change

Sure DNS would have been even easier, but atleast its not encrypted inside the exe.
