generally battlefield does need large amounts of players to work, which rarely happens at lans, let alone westlans. BC2 is much smaller scale than previous PC battlefield games, so I'm pretty optimistic that it would work.

I agree, it would be fantastic if we could get 20+ people playing it at the LAN

unfortuantly after working on this for practally the whole night (as you can see by my post time), i am not able to get the new prefab keys working for client <-> server communication, rather irratating - but i guess it was only a matter of time before these emulators got blocked by EA Games...

Perhaps LAN Play will have to wait for another day.

MoH or BC2?

I don't really see DICE making a multiplayer game with 'old' LAN connectivity any time soon. Instead of whining, I can see two ways to get some good team gaming going:
-play old games, BF2 is still good. BF2142 should hopefully be getting a rerelease soon when they finalise the 1.51 patch, I think that still had LAN play in it.
-play something else. I'm sure there are games out there with aspects of battlefield SW battlefront comes to mind but i'm sure there are more. mods such as empires or renegade-x (which is moving from being a ut3 mod to a standalone udk release)

DC (and battlefield in general) really needs a lot of people go get going, something which is tough to do at lans. Not to stop us trying though. I'm sure the relevant files can be shared (I have BF42 and BF2 just archived up and a .reg file to be ready) with simple instructions to get them going

I'd love a good game of BF2 at the LAN but it needs 20+ people to be proper fun. And I can't see that ever happening at WL as it's not the fastest game to install.
