Overall a good LAN, had some good fun.

Good's:
BBQ
Breakfast Rolls
General Atmosphere
Weather
Usual network/hard drive assault :P

Bad's:
Steam not launching games
Steam needing a 4GB TF2 patch for no reason
Steam generally being gay throughout
Internet being hammered (Going to invest in a 3G dongle for the next one)
Random music being blasted out (seriously wtf :))
Lack of gaming, for me a lot of good games were not played. If so not for very long. Perhaps this was due to the lack of an Opus like the last few lans. And of course Steam generally being gay. Really wanted to play TF2 but nooooo, it wouldn't have it.

Ugly's:
Gooseman

As it was the first one i attended, i dont have much to compare it to, but next time i would like to see more large organised games like TF2, CS:S etc. The games we did play were often for short periods of time. Maybe Tournaments or something? Was a good laugh though! Any photos?

The last couple of lans or so Opus has been a true legend and organized a whole host of tournaments using all the big games, hope it happens again next lan but i don't blame him one bit if he decides to enjoy it instead of sorting stuff out.

I didn't have any problems with steam, as for the first time ever I actually put it in offline mode before I left for the LAN.

I'd like to see a few more games being played next time, but hey I still enjoyed it.

The 'greedy bastard' I had was nice too

We had issues with the wireless bridge, there seemed to be either a fault on one or an issue with interference. With the interference the packet shaper wasn't effective (Holding on to packets when you have a 500ms delay to the local AP is more than likely to end up with the link flooded with retransmissions)
the issues only appeared once people arrived, and after 4pm on friday we have no access to the AP upstairs, hence didn't want to reset it as it could well have not come back up leaving us without any internet.

We're planning to look at this before the next lan, hopefully we can resolve it. I think this was more than likely the issue with steam, although you'd have hoped it could cope with a low bandwidth link better (And its never been the most friendly tool for the lan-goers)

It was turned off once we asked, and i don't think its likely to happen again

I agree with Merson in that there was zero organisation with regards to game tournaments, due to the lack of Opus and nobody taking over doing that. Didn't play many games this LAN, although Trackmania was a good laugh and HL2DM on Sunday was good as always. Glad to see more people having a bash on the G25, hopefully get a LFS time trial tournament going next time.

BBQ was awesome and I ate so much I actually felt sick lol, also baps were brilliant as usual

Although I'm slightly pissed off as once again someone ate my food, I think next time I'll start labelling stuff as certain people are obviously too retarded to remember what they have bought with them.

is there any chance of a noticeboard, or announcements on the 'internal lan patch delivery system' with a vague timetable for games, something like every 1 or 2 hours just assign something reasonably popular to get people playing. i haven't been to a westlan with opus organising anything, lans with team pickings and games involving a good amount of teamplay work well

This is a good idea, and it gets my vote.
