Ticket prices

Postby Wishy » Sun Nov 09, 2008 4:30 pm

Hi All,

We've had a third price increase from the hall since the tickets went up to £20 in march 2007. Electric has also gone up dramatically, which adds significantly to our costs, and the hall now charges for us to have heating.

All the added costs are eating up the majority of the profit from the LAN, which leaves us nothing to invest into kit for the lan and leaves us in a vunerable position if we have a lan with lower numbers or have any of the kit fail. Bare in mind the staff don't take anything from the lan (Short of petrol money and a pastie for lunch on setup day)

As a result we need to increase ticket prices to £22 in advance or £25 at the door. (Avoiding the need for change)

i see no problems with that, its not much of a increase, and as i pay £25 sometimes for it anyway, i dont see that anybody will complain

a marginal increase to keep your heads above water, don't see that anyone can really whinge about it.

The hall is heated?

To be honest the computers / servers kick out enough heat to keep us warm, in fact even at this LAN in the middle of winter I had the window behind us open for most of it as it gets so humid in the hall.

yup the hall is heated.
if the heating was off you would know about it would be like a fridge.

The new fire doors stop the wind a lot better so all is good :)

Price increase is more than fair, any idea if having electric heaters only would help?

For a few hours a day. If we had the heating on permanent the hall want £50 a day... Fortunately the heat from 40 PC's, half a dozen servers and 40 people keeps it reasonably warm, but the heating is definately needed in a cold snap

Heating is also needed for us peeps that like to sleep comfortably. I've always said (and so has xcon), even if it went to £40, i'd still come!

I cannot believe that there is such a massive price hike, I mean honestly, with that extra £2, each member of staff could easily buy a Lamborghini per event!

The little plastic Lamborghinis with elastic bands in them, that is.
