Full teams?

Postby hyper! » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:48 am

Alrite, just found out about the lan and interested in the saltlan 13.

I live in exeter and I am in a css team with my fellow 17 year olds.

Do you allow teams to go their just to bootcamp (i.e play one game all the time against onliners (unless other people want serious games) and everything like that?)

Thanks.

Tom

Hi, welcome to the forums.

the internet connection is simply there for steam authentication/browsing/msn/email.

running CS accross the adsl while there is a load of people on the net is going to be abysmal pings!

during the lan we tend to have various games played, UT2004/C&C3, Supreme commander, Half life 2: deathmatch, CS:S, Flatout + plenty more... its good to get a variation in :)

Cheers

You'd be lucky...could you imagine 10-60 people using a 2Mb ADSL line at the same time? You're lucky if you can even sign into MSN, let alone play games online :P

Edit: at SL12 just gone we had 5 or 6 members of the same clan attend.

CSS is an 18 rated game and you just admitted you are all 17. Allowing you to play the game at the lan would be somewhat negligent.

There was a vast improvement at Saltlan 12. IMHO. While it did flake out occationally due to an overheating access point, in the main it was pretty quick.
At Saltlan 11 the majority of the issues were down to two people downloading entire copys of CS:S over the connection. At this lan we monitored for this and asked people to stop if usage did get heavy.

Yeah the fdg clan went this time (we even had matching t-shirts :o), but were not a solid css gang. We play pretty much any game going. To be honest we played css quite a lot but not the amount u guys would require, but there's definitely a good amount of game play during the lan against the others in the hall (most of the guys are pretty good as well).

The net was perfect at SL12 - It was shit enough to stop people playing games outside of the LAN.
But was awesome enough for you to be able to use Steam in online mode and constantly be signed into msn/IRC - Also good enough to download various small files.

Plus AFAIK you can buy for online delivery at any age, BBFC ratings don't cover online purchase in the same way they would shops.

Well their not a clan. Clan's have good players.
