If you change the disk access mode to ACHI over another default, you're more likely to get 0x7B, but it's worth trying. Crappy motherboards with shit like IRRT often do this, or server motherboards where something like a SCU has been enabled after installation.

I think I have solved it now, it would appear one of the drivers on the asus disk was causing the issue.

I downloaded all the latest drivers from their website and it now works.

You do have ACHI, it a storage configuration option in your system setup (BIOS/EFI setup).

Glad that you got the issue resolved.
