Hi people (mainly Mike :P)
I have created some symbolic links to other folders on other drives to make a clean setup for a dc++ share...

But the problem i have now is, when i try to access these files via a UNC share it says that remote to remote symbolic link sharing is disabled (atleast, its something like that)...

I have done reading up on this, and have executed cmd commands in order to enable R2R sym links (i enabled all 4 different types, L2L, L2R, R2L, R2R) and it still comes up with the error...

Then i noticed that there is a sym link section inside the group policies - so it being an AD controller i modified the default domain policy for servers and made it so that the sym links were set to allow all, and yet i still cannot access them via UNC Share.

Any ideas?

Turns out it wasnt the symlinks being tits after all...
The problem really is this:
SymLinks do not work over UNC unless u fuck around with ur permissions, so i used directory junctions instead which work over UNC.

But i found that some directory junctions that i create disapear from the UNC share while i browse them, it seems that if i create a directory junction directly to the root of a HDD this happens, and its a windows bug...

However, moving the contents of the drive into a subfolder and re-creating the directory junction to point to that works fine...

Stupid microshaft and its problems.

I'd have adjusted the quantum phase flow of the flux capacitor personally, but if you wanna work round the problem instead of fixing it, be my guest!

Its the doc

OMG, HES STILL ALIVE!!! - LIVING IN 1885!

Dear Opus, if my calculations are correct you will receive this letter immediately after you have seen my post - The lighting bolt that hit the interwebs line caused a gigabit overload which scrambled the ethernet cables, activated the flux capacitor, and sent opus back to 1885 - The overload shorted out the time circuits and destroyed the flying circuits. Unfortunately, the symbolic links will never work again.

I set myself up as a blacksmith as a front while I attempted to repair the damage to the symbolic links. Unfortunately, this proved impossible because suitable replacement ram chips will not be invented until 1968 (yes, that date is right). However, I've gotten quite adept at doing horses and fixing women.
