(tentative) my less-old crap i5-3570k and stuff

Subject to intel releasing the 8-series i7 chips a decent amount of time before the next lan, is anyone interested in taking my 3570k off my hands? either as a cpu+mobo+ram combo, or if I add a new HDD (either with a new win10 license or 2017 the year of Linux on the desktop it) build it up into a new system.

I'm kind of tempted to go mITX, so it would be handy to move on one of the cases I have as I don't live in a tardis. The i5 still kicks a lot of ass, and should remain a good CPU for gaming for a few years yet.

As it's not mentioned;
i5-3570K Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000

Freelance; honestly you'd be better off with ITX if space is a premium for you. Some very good ITX mobos and cases out there.

It's actually interesting looking at ITX cases, there's a lot of them that aren't significantly smaller than midi-ATX which is where I'm at right now

My leading contender right now is the phanteks evolv itx, at 230x375x395mm, which is smaller than my Lian-li A05 which is 210x381x489 (or whatever the 2007 era model was. CBA to measure mine) but is it really that big a deal?
Thermaltake core V1 is next on the list, which is more cubey. I'd love an update on the corsair 380 without the bloated "just in case you want to cram it full of radiators" dimensions of it.

Anyway, apparently intel are releasing the i7 8700k on 5th Oct, so decision time soon enough when reviews come in

Just worth a mention since you said space is a premium - I use the Corsair Air 250D and probably one of the best cases you can get with full ATX PSU and plenty of SSD/HDD space. Overall dimensions: 290mm (H) x 277mm (W) x 351mm (D)

mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H - http://uk.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z77-DS3H-rev-11
One thing to note with it is that somehow the LAN capability died on it, so I've been using a separate TPlink card for networking. Apart from that defect, it's been wonderfully stable. I've only done light overclocking on it, so no real idea of how it would perform if you're into clocking it until it cries.

From taking a random browse around ebay at Z77 boards, I'd estimate it's price around £50.
For the CPU prices seem to be in the £80-100 mark, and for the 4x4GB of RAM around £50 if you want it. Also got the stock heatsink and an arctic cooling freezer 13.

Open to reasonable offers, if for no other reason that I don't have to deal with the shitstains that can occupy ebay. If you want it shipped I'll see if I can engineer good packaging for it, and then let you know weight/dimensions to figure something out. I can drop it off around Plymouth area, or leave it in the attic until the next lan.

in other news, a mITX motherboard with a huge bequiet deep rock 3 clamped onto it looks absolutely ridiculous, and is a pain in the ass to work on once it's inside a case with poor access.
