Re: Overclocking

I have just re-clocked my 8600M GS back to stock speeds on my Acer 5520G laptop. Annoyingly Acer specify their model with a 450MHz core. It's a painful process to reclock and overclock them by modifying the VGA bios, but I am willing to share. I am now getting about 3000 3DMARKS06 with my lappy. Not...

Thanks for all your valuable comments including janipewter  I have xp installed on another partition. And have had to reinstall the boot loader since vista was installed first. No problem. I found all the drivers I need now and modded the inf file for the Geforce 8400M G graphics card, so any ...

XP Drivers.

Hi I have just bought a new laptop, it has Windows Vista Home Premium installed. I don't care for Vista much and have also installed Windows XP. Unfortunately because this is a very new laptop with the Nvidia 630a Chipset and Nvidia 8400M Graphics, I can't find the right drivers for XP. The Laptop i...

Buy a respected branded component. Even some of the Jeantech PSUs at PC WORLD (shudder) are decent enough quality.

It would seem that your current PSU is on it's last legs, its demise will probably be associated with the death of every other component your PSU is connected to.

Get a copy of ultimate bootup disk (CD-ROM) and try starting up and running some test utilities for any length of time so you can rule out the problem being a hardware related issue. Also you can verify the PSU by checking the voltages on the 12 and 5 volt rails, stick in some multimeter probes on t...

Quictime 7

I've been downloaing and streaming trailers to test my new HD monitor from the http://www.apple.com/trailers website. I have noticed that some of the new content requires the latest version of Quictime 7 to be installed and since upgrading the trailers are hardly playable. Quictime 7 just seems to s...

Why dont you partition the drive into smaller 'chunks', maybe 60GB each, this may also be more practical, espcially if you are file serving/sharing.

Also you can slipstream windows with XP2.

I thought it Casino Royale was dark and scarey definitaley more psychological that all the the other Bond movies which have been more slapstick and clichéd.

Still as a film it holds up well, although the film was quite long at 2.5 hours. I expected it to end after an hour and a half

I just tested my Tandy EGA graphics adaptor, as well as overclocking it to 4/2 (Core/Mem), I also adjusted the resolution for the tests, and did some general fiddling, the results are suprising, but mainly through optimisations  http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/7536/overclockdq4.th.png

I was just reading through, in terms of resiliency you would normally run two cards via different LANs e.g LAN A and LAN B. Otherwise you will still have a single point of failure which would be the router/managed switch if the network cards are teamed.

I have experienced a similar problem with the Via KT600 motherboards. After the hexadecimal diagnostic gets to FF, the system hangs. I would try removing all USB peripherals as the USB controller is known to hang the system with some peripherals. Also check the bios setting/reset CMOS. Are you overc...

I seem to remember something about Planet X some years ago that was also in debate, and the idea being that large asteroidy blocks of ice and dust don't count.

Well I have already copied necessary driver files from my installation, both are XP PRO SP2A. This has worked before in my case. The main thing is though I want to actually access the administration account on that disk so I can get at the files, how do I do this, I already know the account name and...

Boot it

Guys I have removed my friends hard disk from her laptop and installed it into a 2.5 " IDE to USB enclosure so she can get access to her files. The hard disk has the operating system on as well, my question is how can I make it bootable over usb? And is there an easy way of doing this? The hard...
